DP Architects : Creating For The Future

Creating for the future Angelene Chan gave us the opportunity to glimpse into thought processes of the Singapore poster child in architect world – DP Architects. Boasting a staff of over 900 people in the sprawling space of Marina Square, we heard first hand from the directors of the different divisions how a building is constructed. The quality of air, effects on and amount of wind, prevention of rain run offs, carbon neutrality etc were just some of the issues that every structure would tackle. Perhaps the most promising ideas that the firm is putting forth are the nationwide simulation maps which would bring together both the public and private sectors’ data. Thereby allowing the simulation of planting new buildings in a plot of land and predicting the effects it would have on its surroundings. The possibilities of this project are vast and much of the technology from the gaming industry can be transferred and reused for it.
